Nestled within the vibrant heart of Shepherd’s Bush Market, Sam Sandwiches offers an authentic taste of Algerian street food that delights both locals and curious foodies alike. This cozy, unpretentious spot specializes in richly flavored sandwiches and traditional dishes, all crafted with fresh ingredients and a clear passion for the cuisine.

The star of the menu is undoubtedly the Merguez Sausage Sandwich, a fragrant and spicy North African sausage bursting with robust flavors that instantly captivate your palate. Equally enticing is Sam’s Special Two Meat Sandwich, combining tender, well-seasoned meats that create a perfect harmony of tastes. Fans of poultry will find the Sam’s Chicken Sandwich unforgettable — juicy, perfectly spiced, and served on fresh bread that crisps just right. For something truly hearty, the Philly Cheese Steak brings a satisfying richness, while the Algerian-inspired Tagines provide a comforting and exotic alternative beyond sandwiches.

The menu is refreshingly diverse yet tightly focused, featuring several standout options like the Fish Fillet Sandwich, praised by many for its crispy, flaky texture and vibrant seasoning, as well as intriguing selections such as Liver Sandwiches and marinated sardines, each accompanied by fresh salad and chips to round out the experience. The availability of fresh beverages, ranging from carton juices to expertly brewed espresso-based coffees, makes every visit feel complete.

Dining at Sam Sandwiches is an intimate experience — the small, window-side counter seats and a modest two-seater table foster a connection between customers and the staff, who are often described as welcoming and sincere. The brothers who run the place go beyond serving food; they offer genuine hospitality, enhancing the warm atmosphere with their friendly and respectful service.

Patrons often mention the slightly longer wait times as part and parcel of the freshly made cooking process, and indeed, the 15 to 20 minutes you may spend waiting is rewarded with sandwiches that are fresh, flavorful, and worth every moment of anticipation. Customers like Amir T commend the freshness and friendliness, while others, such as mimo, highlight the exceptional taste of the chicken sandwich paired with attentive service.

Whether you’re exploring Shepherd’s Bush Market or looking for a hidden gem delivering bold North African flavors in London, Sam Sandwiches promises a memorable culinary journey. I don't usually have a high opinion of street food in London as many of the markets that specialise in street food over promise and underdeliver and serve up, IMHO, expensive poor quality food. So I was absutely delighted to find Sam's Sandwiches tucked away in an obscure part of Shepherd's Bush next to the market. Sams serves Algerian Street food and while both the menu and seating is small the sandwiches are generous and very tasty. Having lived in France I went for the Merguez sandwich which was served in Arabic bread which toasted up a treat. The Merguez sausages were good quality and were complimented perfectly by some Mediterranean salad and chips. While it's only a sandwich shop it is clear that the owners put heart and soul into serving up great food at a reasonable price and into pleasing their customers. Judging by the high foot fall of market goers, locals, and the size of the queue I witnessed those in the know already know this a great place to eat for a very reasonable price.

AMAZING fish sandwich at a really affordable price, really recommend trying! Order does take a while though (~20 mins) so factor that in when you order. I’d say it’s worth the wait though :)

I’d seen Sam’s Sandwiches recommended in a couple of places and finally decided to visit for lunch on a Friday. For those who haven’t been, it is worth taking a walk around Shepherd’s Bush Market en route to the restaurant. It is a small place with 4 seats along a counter and a single 2-seater table. We were the only ones there. Not being too hungry the 2 of us shared a merguez sandwich. This is served in a type of pita bread and the sausage is accompanied by a mix of potato, egg and salad. It was quite a flavourful combo and I the (heated) bread itself was pretty good too. The quantity was not that big for sharing but I imagined I would have been quite full if I consumed a whole sandwich. We paid £7 for our lunch which seemed reasonable. Note the venue is cash only. Overall I wouldn’t say I was blown away and think it may have been hyped up a bit by certain sources, but nonetheless a decent quality sandwich at a sensible price. I would return if in the area.

Tucked away from the frantic energy of Shepherd's Bush Market, you'll find a true culinary sanctuary: Sam's Sandwiches. This cozy, 'hole-in-the-wall' spot is a breath of fresh air, and it's all powered by one man's passion. Watching Sam work is like watching an artist. He's a one-man army, meticulously crafting each sandwich one order at a time. You can see the love and care he puts into the preparation, and that dedication shines through in every bite. This isn't just fast food; it's a genuine labor of love. The food itself is fantastic, but what truly sets Sam's apart is the unbelievable value. The prices feel like they belong to a past era, offering a level of quality and portion size that is simply insane for the cost. In a city where everything feels overpriced, Sam's Sandwiches is a refreshing reminder that great food and great value can still go hand-in-hand. If you're in the area and looking for a delicious, affordable, and genuinely heartfelt meal, seek out Sam's Sandwiches. You won't be disappointed.

One word to sum it up: Superb. High quality sandwiches, the best that I have ever had in London. Great and friendly service. I have had the liver sandwich and my husband had the merguez. Both tasty, filled inside a nice round bread that is also toasted on the grill, giving it a crunch and an added depth of flavours. Highly recommended. Thank you very much, Sam.

Algerian food, authentic and friendly. My friend and I had lentil soup and sandwiches. One merguez, one liver. Even though we are big eaters, we did leave a little bit as the portions are very generous. The owner is friendly so are the people around. This is a community place. The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious, just like Mama made it, my friend's words. I would personally recommend it highly. I'm grateful this place exists.
